Partnering with THOUGHT FOR FOOD: the movement leading a sustainable food and agricultural revolution
The world might now produce more than enough food to feed everyone, but our food systems are still out of balance. Malnutrition and access to food, environmental degradation, loss of agro-biological diversity, food loss and waste, and a lack of security for food chain workers are only some of the issues that underline this imbalance. But we are in the midst of a global sustainable food and agriculture revolution: and we wanted to help our network be part of it.
Thought For Food® is a movement that unites the most equipped generations the world has ever seen; including YOUth, through their programs and online platforms, giving you the power to help build an inclusive and resilient food system. Thought For Food have a range of programs on their platform that call upon and nurture the world’s next-gen innovators to step up and develop the bold ideas and impact-focused startups that the world urgently needs.
Their flagship program the TFF Challenge®️ is the world’s largest agri-foodtech innovation challenge that discovers and boosts Millennial and GenZs globally. To date, they have helped launch 50+ startups that collectively raised $100M+ and accelerated 4K+ new deep-tech ventures.
But here’s our favourite part: you can equip yourself to be part of the revolution through their state of the art education platform. Thought For Food wanted to make the knowledge from within their global network freely available to anyone from anywhere at any time, so they created the TFF Digital Labs: a mobile-optimised and highly-scalable digital platform addresses the specific needs and expectations of the next generation of agrifood innovators everywhere on the planet.
Partnering with Thought For Food
We partnered with Thought For Food for our 2021 issue of the Changing Times News, full of community news stories and articles from changemakers across the TFF and HCN community.
In an age of mass media and 24-hour news cycles, it can be easy to forget the importance of community journalism. Yet, community and citizen journalism play a vital role in our society; providing a platform for local voices to be heard and give people the information they need to make informed decisions about their communities. In addition, people who are working in this space often have a deep understanding of the issues and can offer unique insights into the stories that make up our world in a way traditional journalism may not. For these reasons, TFF and HCN agreed that we needed to combine forces for community news project.
The TFF Framework
Thought For Food’s community has a framework of 6 Next-Gen Attitudes, which they believe that anyone – regardless the type of organisation they work in, regardless of their age, expertise or location in the world – can tap into these attitudes and unlock next-gen innovation. 5. Purpose
A purposeful attitude is critical when it comes to building emotional intelligence and resilience.
6. Nurturing Communities
Ultimately, relationships drive forward everything that we do. Our support system revives and propels us forward during the hardest times.
Changing the world’s food system can seem like a daunting task, but just as there are countless ways to promote social change for any issue, there are countless ways to promote social change to address the challenges faced by the world’s food system. A good place to start, is by taking the initiative to learn more about the food system (through a platform like the TFF Digital Labs), and you will be working to promote informal, individual/collective change.
